Eating healthy on the go is tough. Especially in New York in the rain.
.
There isn’t enough time, it’s too expensive, I’m not motivated, I don’t have access, am I hurting others by not eating decadent meals or drinking fine wine. If I only eat half of the donut, it doesn’t count right? High fat, high sugar foods are just my jam! Where do I even start.
.
Whenever I think about eating well, I always think of of @geneenroth. Following my struggles with bulimia I discovered Geneen’s work and it changed me permanently. Geneen maintains that it is not what we eat but how we choose to eat that really determines our overall health. Too often, we eat to conceal real emotions instead of for nutrition and joy. We layer on excuse after excuse not to eat healthy because we are actually afraid of our true power.
.
Let us all band together to break this cycle. How can we find ways to rejoice and celebrate the food that we eat?
.
I have a challenge for you, adapt Geneen’s rules for dinner tonight, and really embody them. Here’s all you have to do:
.
1. Eat when you are hungry. (Like for real, on a scale of 1-10 with 1 being so stuffed you want to puke and 10 being I am ready to eat my own arm, how hungry are you? If you’re not hungry, don’t eat.)
2. Eat sitting down in a calm environment. This does not include the car (yikes).
3. Eat without distractions from TV, books, newspapers, intense conversation, or anxiety inducing music.
4. Eat exactly what you want. Seriously, if you want chocolate cake EAT IT. Pizza, get it girl. Think like @Arianagrande #iwantitigotit
5. Eat until you are satisfied. (Remember that scale? Can you stop before the number gets to ouch?
6. Eat (with the intention of being) in full view of others. No more boxes of snack bars under the bed.
7. Eat with enjoyment, gusto, and pleasure.
